KYC & AML Policy
This page applies to every British Columbia Casino player at sign-up, deposit and withdrawal. Checks run as you create your account, ahead of the first deposit, ahead of the first withdrawal, and whenever legal duties or your activity on the account make them necessary.
Know the player. Follow the money. Keep the strip clean.
1. Why we verify
Right player. Right age. Right money.
KYC is short for know your customer, and AML is short for anti-money laundering. Between them, they cover how we verify the identity of our players and how we prevent criminal funds moving through our cashier.
We only take players where the law of their jurisdiction allows play. Canadian rules against money laundering, along with requirements for checking age and identity, shape how we work. Verification protects you as much as it protects us. Nobody else can use your name or card, minors stay out, and your winnings reach you instead of a stranger.
2. Identity and age checks
We confirm who you are before the first deposit and again before the first withdrawal.
At registration, type your full legal name just as it is printed on your ID, then add the day you were born and the place you live. We confirm these details electronically through reliable data sources and check your location, making sure you play from somewhere play is allowed. You must be 19 or older.
When the electronic check cannot confirm everything, we request documents. Typically that means:
- Photo identification issued by a government, such as an unexpired passport or driver's licence.
- A document proving where you live: a utility invoice or bank statement no older than a few months, listing your name along with your residential address.
- Evidence that your payment method belongs to you, such as a screenshot of your Instadebit account or a photo of your card on which the middle numbers are hidden.
- A selfie holding your ID, in some cases, so we can match the face to the document.
Each image must be in colour, show the document's four corners and have all text legible. You can upload them through your account or send them to us by email.
Cashouts go one way: to a payment option registered under your name. Pick Interac e-Transfer, Visa or Instadebit. Minimum withdrawal: C$50. Daily ceiling: C$25 000. Once you are verified, most methods land in at least one hour and at most four; a bank wire can stretch to 12 hours. Zero fees on deposits and withdrawals.
3. When checks fall short
No verification, no cash out. Simple as that.
- Unclear or expired documents: we tell you exactly what is missing. You can still log in, but deposits and withdrawals pause until it is sorted.
- Details that do not match: the account is restricted while we look into it.
- Player under 19: the account is shut and bets are void, as set out in our Underage Gambling Policy.
- Forged or altered documents, or someone else's identity or payment method: we close the account, void any winnings, and report to the authorities when legally required.
- Refusing to complete checks: the account must be closed, and the law decides what happens to any remaining balance.
4. Source of funds
Bigger play brings bigger questions.
If your deposits look high relative to what we know about you, or your playing pattern shifts suddenly, we will ask you to explain the source of your funds. Helpful documents include recent payslips, bank statements, savings records, inheritance papers or proof that you sold a property or business. For our most active players, we may also ask about source of wealth, that is, how your overall assets were accumulated. Deposits may be limited until we receive what we need. Such requests are standard and do not imply any wrongdoing.
5. Public office and sanctions lists
All accounts are screened when opened and on an ongoing basis.
Every name is checked against sanctions lists from Canada and abroad, once when the account is created and again at steady intervals afterwards. A confirmed match means no new account opens and no existing one stays active, and where the law demands it, funds are frozen.
We also check whether a player is a politically exposed person: someone who holds, or has previously held, a prominent public position in Canada or abroad, a head of an international organisation, or a family member or close associate of such a person. Falling into this category does not stop you from playing, but it brings enhanced checks, account approval by senior management and closer transaction monitoring.
6. Ongoing monitoring
Verification is never one and done.
Our systems and our team watch accounts for activity that does not fit, such as:
- Money cycled in and straight back out with minimal wagering.
- Deposits split into small amounts to stay under reporting thresholds.
- Payments from accounts or cards belonging to someone else.
- A large number of payment methods added within a brief period.
- Multiple accounts connected to a single device, address or payment method.
Documents are refreshed once they expire or if your details change. If you move house or change your name, let us know and we will update your file.
7. Records and reporting
We keep the paper trail the law demands.
Identity records, transaction records and the outcome of our checks are kept for the period required by Canadian law and stored securely as set out in How We Handle Your Data. We report suspicious transactions, along with any others the law specifies, to the federal authorities responsible for financial crime. By law, we may not tell anyone whether such a report has been made. All members of our team receive anti-money laundering training.
